Pretty Pest

I found some "weeds" yesterday to photograph. Starting to get a bit of a handle on my new camera. Working on SDOF and focus points. Next sunny/cloudy day I want to head to the same spot, tripod in tow, and try some HDR.

Bali 2014

I was fortunate to go to Bali again this year for language study. I always love to take my camera with me. A good friend of mine "Dwi", who runs Bali Secret Tours, took me out for a day to take some photos.

Bedugul Temple
We left nice and early to go to Bedugul Temple. We got there nice and early before all the tourists arrived so I pretty much had the place to myself (and Dwi of course).

Munduk Waterfall
After Bedugul temple Dwi drove me into the mountains to Munduk waterfall. It was a beautiful spot, cold by Bali standards - 20 something degrees - but well worth braving the "cold". It was very wet with a lot of spray so I did what I could to keep my camera dry.

Orchid Flower - Alam Koe Pizza
When studying language in Bali I stay at the Bali Jepun Guest House, student accommodation. Pak Nyoman, the father of the household, recommended I try Alam Koe Pizza resturant while I was in the mountains and it was on the way to Munduk from Bedugul. While there apart from the beautiful mountain side view (sorry I didn't get a good shot of that - next time), they also had a lot of gorgeous flowers, including these orchids.
 Bali Jepun (Bali Flower)
The guest house gets its name from the fact that Ibu Putu loves Frangipanis (Bali Jepun). There was always a new batch of flowers freshly fallen and Frangipanis are a favourite of mine. If only mine would flower and have green on them all year!

Long Overdue

I have not posted in a while, juggling work, family and photography. I have been active on a couple of Photography communities on Facebook but figured it's time to update my Blog :-) SO here are a few landscapes I've done recently.

Quinninup Falls in Yallingup
I had no idea this beautiful spot existed until I saw a photo of it from someone else on a Facebook photography page. With camera and tripod in hand I managed to get a few snaps. I have been fortunate enough to print and sell this on canvas.

Rocky Point Bunbury
I went to Rocky Point near Back Beach Bunbury and notice something stirring in the waves. With camera poised and trigger finger ready I snapped away when I saw backwash hitting oncoming waves. The end result was more pleasant than even I was expecting, with the afternoon sunlight pouring through the wave.

Dalyellup Beach HDR
My local beach can have some wonderful sunsets. I was there recently with my two girls and was giving my new camera and lens a whirl. My new camera, a Canon 6D, has HDR mode, so I have it a whirl. While it is not ideal to use HDR with people the photo with the girls worked quite well.
